Post-COVID: Which Behaviors Will Stick?

It is an overwhelming time at this time.

From an economic standpoint — past the apparent massive damage because of a stopping of big swaths of the market, which will have to be addressed some kind of government bailout — there are also some level of permanent restructuring.

A lot of men and women are experiencing, for the first time, the number of tasks — learning, work, health care, and interacting — may be accomplished remotely and in new ways using electronic tools. For sure, once the dust settles, we’ll mostly return to doing things we’ve always done , but I guess that particular new behaviours will adhere, and is going to lead to longer-term behavioral and financial fluctuations.

The most apparent one is company travel and distant function. Everyone who is learning the way to do this today — such as companies/teams/individuals which might have resisted it mightily previously. Moving forward, it is likely to be far more difficult to warrant an in-person-only culture. I guess that coming from this emergency, many specialists may have a permanently high pub for justifying work traveling.

Everyone with children is scrambling to determine how to keep them engaged, learning and connected. Every college is scrambling to employ a distant learning capacity. School will restart but distant learning will adhere.

In the end, in addition, it feels as though we’re rediscovering our societal and amusement resides. I’ve not been more busy with family and friends — particularly, for some reason, people who reside at a distance — as far as lately. My children are linking with their buddies over FaceTime daily. Group and one-on-one conversations are on fire. However, I feel this will also adhere.

What’s most intriguing to me isn’t the societal adjustments, but the ones that are institutional. In the instances of work, learning and health care, we’re discussing enormous institutions which are learning new behaviours . That is a huge deal — we are likely seeing years-worth of shift happening over a matter of weeks. It is amazing, really.
